Summary of essential job functions:

The Fire Inspector will review construction and modification plans, confer with engineers, provide technical and functional assistance on fire prevention and building design criteria. Primary work location for this position is OCONUS in Kuwait (Camp Arifjan Operations Center) and will require additional travel to other countries and remote sites to work in austere environments and in potentially dangerous areas, including a war zone, under working conditions inherent in a dangerous environment. 


Roles and responsibilities:

  • Plan and administer the fire prevention education program and develop base fire regulations, training programs, and fire hazard assessment schedules.
  • Inspect building structures and locations of fire extinguishers to detect and correct fire hazards, determine compliance with fire safety laws and ordinances, and maintain records
  • Educate the base population regarding fire prevention and fire warden duties
  • Investigate complaints and answer questions regarding fire hazards and violation of fire safety regulations
  • Participate in fire drills and classes and prepare required reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Potential for reassignment to Iraq, Jordan, or other CENTCOM AOR locations, as required by the customer. Selected candidates must be available for reassignment to any contract locations.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good oral and written communication skills. Computer literate with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with strong interpersonal skills and good analytical and interpretive skills
  • Strong investigative skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills Reading, writing, email correspondence, with excellent ability to articulate problem-solving solutions


Minimum qualifications and education requirements:

  • US citizen with the ability to obtain US government clearance.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant fire protection, or related, experience.
  • Minimum certification in accordance with DODI 6055.06, be NFPA certified:
    • Fire Officer I
    • Fire Instructor II
    • Fire Inspector II
  • Must possess a valid US passport with blank visa pages and 6 months remaining
  • Must possess a valid US Driver's License with minimum 6 months left prior to expiration/renewal.
  • Must meet all medical qualifications under the contract and meet other requirements applicable to working in the USARCENT/CENTCOM AOR


Preferred qualifications:

  • Active secret clearance is highly preferred.
