Summary of essential job functions:

Carry out International Maintenance Assistance Program (IMAP) services at DoS worldwide facilities. Assignments shall include Post site visits to conduct emergency services; perform maintenance and repair services; test essential equipment and building systems; and conduct hands-on instruction in inspection, PM and repair procedures. Complete various types of documentation and administrative duties; and shall identify follow-up work for Post, local contractor, or IMAP contractor completion.


Roles and responsibilities:

  • May be required to respond to emergencies repairs of electrical systems.
  • Perform inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, and other tasks as identified.
  • Identify needed equipment, materials, and enquire if it is in Post inventory or available locally.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electric system components in accordance with the appropriate OBO checklists.
  • Deficiencies detected will be documented and reported.
  • Main/sub-distribution power panels; insuring proper balancing of loads, torque per manufacturer specification or U.L. White Book and correctness of all connections.
  • Electrical distribution system; perform diagnostic checks and troubleshoot system to insure: proper phase rotation, inspection of conductors for excessive heating from overloading conditions, insulation degrading and/or excessive harmonics heating influence, torque of connections and compliance with: NFPA standards, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and DoS OBO specifications and requirements for fire protection, grounding, bonding, sizing/insulation of conductors.
  • Utilize the as-built drawings, specifications and operating manuals, operating and service logs, technical data of each system, historic data on installation and repairs, and warranty information while completing services, if available at Post.
  • Perform an electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting survey of Post's electrical system to include, at a minimum, readings of incoming power.
  • Provide limited repair services concurrently with PM activities in office buildings.
  • Document the electrical system is working within design parameters.

  • Experienced with various Electrical systems

  • Plan, organize, and work independently with little direction


Minimum qualifications and education requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Top Secret security clearance
  • High school diploma
  • Must hold:
    • A valid Journeyman electrician license or equivalent at a State level; OR
    • Have a minimum of ten (10) years practical experience in the rehabilitation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and power distribution systems; OR
    • Must be a graduate of a State approved/accredited or military Journeyman electrician program; AND have five (5) years hands on experience (to have been completed within the last 8 years) in rehabilitation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and power distribution systems.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Vocational training preferred, but not required
