JOB SUMMARY

Michael Baker Global Services is currently searching for qualified Journeyman Mechanical Tradesman who are interested in working on international construction projects. This person will report directly to the Facade Superintendent and will be responsible for producing quality work while complying with both Industry and MBGS safety standards.

 

TASKS

  • Installation of domestic water, sanitary sewer, gas piping, chilled water, heating water, condensate piping, steam piping and storm drain plumbing systems
  • Read blueprints and other technical documents to asses building needs and pipe/plumbing fixture plans.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of the International Plumbing Codes.
  • Determine materials needed for each new project; estimate time and cost
  • Install, assemble, maintain, and repair pipes and plumbing fixtures
  • Affix clamps, screws, brazing, soldering, welds, etc. to pipes and tubes
  • Measure and modify pipes accordingly by cutting, threading, or bending pipes by using specialized tools
  • Install dishwashers, water heaters, toilets, sinks, etc.
  • Diagnose plumbing problems and work to resolve any issues
  • Repair or replace damaged parts
  • Train new apprentices in proper plumbing techniques and practices
  • Confirm pipe system is air/watertight by performing pressure tests
  • Keep detailed notes and create work reports documenting projects
  • Test plumbing and other installed fixtures to ensure proper functioning
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
  • Install underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to install piping lay and lifting heavy objects. Must be able to lift tool, materials, equipment in excess of 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work from all types of ladders and perform work at various heights.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required by OSHA and EM-385.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A high school diploma is preferred. However, a combination of equivalent work experience and training in the field may be qualifying.
  • Proficient in English
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must have an active Secret clearance
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7-years total construction experience, 3-years working as an apprentice under a Journeyman Plumber and posses a Journeyman or Master Plumber License.
  • Successful completion of a Plumbing Apprenticeship Program is preferred, but not mandatory. Work experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must be willing to deploy to project sites worldwide to complete construction projects.
