Summary of essential job functions:

We are looking for a Sr. Heavy Equipment Spall Repair Technician to support of the project in Balad Iraq, reporting to the Heavy Equipment Spall Repair Foreman in the Mission Support Group supervises a team of Local National (LN) Spall Repair Technicians tasked with maintaining and repairing the airfield and other pavements across Balad Air Base.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of skilled tasks including the operation of light to heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
  • perform spall repair and other pavement repairs primarily on the airfield and were needed on the compound
  • Maintenance of various heavy equipment such as bobcats and front-end loaders, split-gear dump trucks.
  • Maintains and repairs runways, taxiways, and ramp areas including plowing snow, weed removal, patching, etc. to ensure safe operation by airport users.
  • Acts as a backup to the heavy equipment team to perform other required duties as assigned
  • Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • Usage of sealants, bag-concrete mixtures, and applications
  • Provide professional mentorship to the LN Spall Repair Technicians
  • The employee must be able to work 12 hour days six days a week. Additional duty may be required to cover extra days when a coworker is on absent
  • The employee must be able to assume standby responsibilities as assigned
  • Responsible for other duties assigned by management.

Minimum qualifications and education requirements:

  • Must have previously held a flight line badge at a military installation
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in repairing airfield spalls.
  • Vocational/Specialized Training.
  • High school diploma / GED equivalent is preferred.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior Military and or AFCAP/LOGCAP experience
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and various trade skills in an austere, hazardous environment
  • Ability to fluently read, write and speak English
  • Knowledge of proper usage of sealants, bag-concrete mixtures and adequate application for safe use in an airfield environment
  • Skilled in the appropriate methodology to perform repairs to airfield pavements, including saw cutting of concrete
