So what does a Project Controls Engineer at Michael Baker Global Services do?

  • You will manage the project controls operations of the OBO offic as related to the construction contract's cost and schedule. Prepare reports and other control documentation.
  • You will have the full gamut of construction project controls report drafting and production (MS Office Suite), cost management, schedule management (Primavera), change order management, submittal and request for information management, and commercial construction required. U.S. Embassy construction program experience highly desired.
  • You will have recent experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • You will develop a working knowledge of all administrative requirements of the construction contract and required contract deliverables.
  • You will assure satisfactory and timely performance of all aspects of project control. Provide control of the contractor's submittals and as-built drawings.
  • You will review contractor's monthly application for payment and advise Project Director/COR of findings.
  • You will review and evaluate requests for contract modifications as to their need and whether they are already a part of existing contract requirements.
  • You will perform quantity take-offs and assist in preparation of Independent Government Estimates (IGEs).

Can you walk me through a typical day of a Project Controls Engineer?

  • You will provide support to the Project Director/COR in all contract administration matters.
  • You will negotiate modifications and/or claims; interpret contract requirements, e.g., payment provisions, general conditions, and Division I of the specifications.
  • You will participate in meetings and conferences as required.
  • You will prepare minutes of meetings attended.
  • You will maintain the daily construction log, organize daily inspection reports, track OBO equipment and project records.
  • You will assist and mentor administrative staff.
  • You will coordinate and cooperate with the Project Director/COR and other members of the Project Director's staff.
  • You will undertake other duties as assigned by the Project Director/COR.

Could you be the Project Controls Engineer we are looking for?

  • You must have a Final Top Secret security clearance to deploy.
  • You will have a degree in Engineering (any disciplines), Engineering Management, Construction Management or Construction Engineering from an accredited university in the United States.
  • You must have a minimum of 7 years relevant experience in the commercial construction industry. 
  • You will have expert knowledge of advanced planning and scheduling methodologies as well as their application to engineering program and project management principles.
  • You must have experienced the full gamut of construction project controls reporting, drafting and production (MS Office Suite), cost management, schedule management (Primavera), change order management, submittal management, and commercial construction required.
  • You will preferably have US Embassy construction program experience.
  • You must have overseas experience.
  • You will preferably have professional certification; Certified Cost Consultant, Certified Cost Engineer, Certified Cost Technician, or a Certified Estimating Professional, scheduling profession.
  • You will preferably have recent Primavera experience.
