Electrical Engineer (OCONUS)


So what does an Electrical Engineer at Michael Baker Global Services, a division of Sallyport Global do?

The Electrical Engineer we are looking for will provide a full range of critical engineering and construction quality assurance, management, and technical oversight of the Department of State project. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for performing technical inspections of electrical, fire alarm, technical security, telecomm/data work, monitoring the contractor's quality control program, and reviewing project drawings and specifications to ensure compliance.


Can you walk me through a typical day of an Electrical Engineer?

  • You will provide technical expertise to the U.S. Government on-site Project Director and construction management staff. The expertise needed may include supervision, design, survey or inspection of construction activities associated with structures, facilities or utility systems. You will be responsible for technical documentation and review of work in progress by other federal contractor(s).
  • You will oversee compliance with Client standards for project design, delivery, QA/QC process and regular project reporting.
  • You will evaluate the desired goals of the electrical system and review designs and selections of equipment and power controls to achieve those goals.
  • You will perform engineering calculations and prepare reports in support of the project's work.
  • You will assist the Project Director in the overall coordination of construction activities to maximize productivity and maintain schedule.
  • You will assist in the review of contingency and recovery plans offered by contractors and monitor performance against those plans providing quality assurance reporting.
  • You will conduct spot surveillance of electrical disciplines to ensure that high quality of workmanship is maintained.
  • You will interact closely with the Clients field staff to resolve field issues.
  • You may even work directly with third party's QA check testing teams and report findings to the Clients Representative.
  • You will communicate and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and offices.

Could you be the Electrical Engineer we are looking for?

  • You need to have a Bachelor's degree in the field of Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture. A Professional Engineering License (PE) is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • You must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in Electrical Engineering with specific on-site construction experience across all phases of project delivery. Vertical construction experience is a huge plus.
  • You must have an active Secret clearance and must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
